Baccarat Standards
Baccarat is played with eight decks of cards in a shoe. Cards that are valued under ten are said to be worth face value whereas 10, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each applied a value of 1. Wagers are placed on the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual individuals; they only appear as the 2 hands to be played).
2 hands of two cards shall then be given to the ‘banker’ as well as ‘player’. The total for each hand shall be the total of the 2 cards, but the very first digit is dumped. For eg, a hand of seven as well as 5 produces a tally of two (7plus5=twelve; drop the ‘one’).
A 3rd card might be given depending on the foll. standards:
- If the bettor or banker has a total of 8 or nine, the two gamblers stand.
- If the player has 5 or less, he/she hits. bettors stand otherwise.
- If bettor stands, the banker hits of five or less. If the player hits, a chart is used to determine if the banker stands or hits.
Baccarat Odds
The larger of the two scores wins. Successful stakes on the banker pay at nineteen to 20 (even money less a five percent commission. Commission is monitored and paid out when you leave the table so make sure you have funds left before you leave). Winning bets on the player pay one to 1. Winning bets for tie as a rule pay eight to 1 and on occasion nine to 1. (This is a bad wager as ties happen lower than 1 every 10 hands. Avoid laying money on a tie. Regardless odds are emphatically better – nine to 1 vs. eight to one)
When played smartly, baccarat provides fairly good odds, away from the tie bet ofcourse.
Baccarat Strategy
As with every games, Baccarat has some established myths. One of which is very similar to a roulette myth. The past is in no way an actual indicator of future results. Monitoring of past results on a chart is simply a waste of paper … an insult to the tree that gave its life to be used as our stationary.
The most commonly used and feasibly most successful strategy is the one-3-2-six technique. This technique is used to accentuate earnings and cutting back risk.
Begin by gambling one unit. If you win, add 1 more to the two on the table for a total of 3 on the second bet. If you win you will have six on the table, clear away 4 so you have two on the third gamble. If you win the third bet, add two to the four on the table for a value of 6 on the fourth gamble.
If you don’t win on the 1st bet, you suck up a loss of 1. A win on the 1st bet followed by loss on the 2nd causes a loss of two. Wins on the first 2 with a loss on the third gives you a profit of two. And wins on the first three with a loss on the 4th mean you break even. Accomplishing a win on all four bets leaves you with twelve, a profit of 10. Therefore you can get beaten the 2nd bet 5 times for every successful streak of 4 bets and still break even.
