Rules of Baccarat

Baccarat Protocols

Baccarat is played with 8 decks of cards. Cards below a value of ten are said to be worth their printed number while at the same time ten, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each given a value of 1. Wagers are placed upon the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual individuals; they merely act as the 2 hands to be dealt).

2 hands of two cards shall then be given to the ‘banker’ and ‘player’. The value for any hand will be the grand total of the 2 cards, but the first digit is discarded. For example, a hand of seven and 5 produces a value of two (7plus5=twelve; drop the ‘one’).

A 3rd card may be given out depending on the foll. practices:

- If the gambler or banker has a total score of eight or 9, then both gamblers stand.

- If the player has five or less, he/she hits. bettors stand otherwise.

- If player stands, the banker hits of 5 or less. If the bettor hits, a chart will be used to see if the banker stands or hits.

Baccarat Odds

The larger of the 2 scores will be the winner. Victorious bets on the banker pay out nineteen to 20 (even money less a 5% commission. Commission is tracked and moved out when you leave the table so make sure that you have funds left before you leave). Winning bets on the player pay one to one. Winner bets for tie as a rule pay out 8 to one and on occasion 9 to one. (This is not a good bet as ties occur less than one every ten hands. Definitely don’t try betting on a tie. Regardless odds are somewhat better – 9 to 1 versus 8 to 1)

When done accurately, baccarat provides relatively good odds, aside from the tie bet ofcourse.

Baccarat Strategy

As with just about all games, Baccarat has some well-known myths. 1 of which is very similar to a roulette myth. The past is not an indicator of future outcomes. Staying abreast of prior results on a chart is for sure a waste of paper and an insult to the tree that gave its life to be used as our stationary.

The most commonly used and possibly most successful tactic is the one-3-2-6 technique. This tactic is deployed to maximize profits and lowering risk.

Begin by betting 1 unit. If you win, add one more to the 2 on the table for a total of 3 on the second bet. If you win you will have 6 on the table, take away 4 so you have two on the third bet. If you win the third bet, add two to the four on the table for a total of six on the 4th bet.

If you lose on the 1st bet, you suck up a loss of 1. A win on the first bet quickly followed by loss on the 2nd brings about a loss of two. Wins on the first two with a loss on the third gives you a profit of two. And wins on the first 3 with a loss on the 4th mean you breakeven. Coming away with a win on all four bets leaves you with 12, a profit of 10. In other words you can fail to win the second bet 5 times for every successful streak of 4 bets and still break even.
